Welcome to the TEAM TALIAH fundraising page!
Taliah turns 18 in May! In honor of her special “chai” birthday, we are raising money on behalf of TEAM TALIAH in support of Rady Children’s!
TEAM TALIAH started 12 years ago when Taliah (as Captain) joined in the Rady Children’s Walk at age 6. At that point, Taliah’s goal was to be able to walk the mile around Sea World with her walker. It was the first of many, many goals that Taliah has achieved, much with the support of all of you and of the team at Rady Children’s behind her.
Taliah has CHARGE Syndrome, a very rare genetic syndrome that appears in 1 in 10,000 live births. It affects the development of almost every system in her body and therefore she has spent much of her life in the hospital. We owe so much to Rady Children’s! Rady has helped Taliah walk, talk, eat, grow, breathe and has saved her life on more than one occasion.
Rady Children's holds a special place in our heart. It has been our home away from home since we moved to San Diego in 2009. Each year we try to give back in support of Rady Children's and how this amazing place has helped Taliah and cared for my entire family.
This year we are especially excited because proceeds from TEAM TALIAH and your donations will help create a new CHARGE Center at Rady Children’s Hospital. This Center will bring multidisciplinary care of CHARGE Syndrome under one roof and blaze a path that will benefit children with complex medical needs. The CHARGE Center will help families like ours and children like Taliah.
Why Chai? In Hebrew, each letter has a numerical value. The number 10 is the letter Yud. The number 8 is the letter Het. Het-Yud spells the word Chai (חי), usually pronounced like the English word “hi” or “high,” which is a word and symbol that means “life.”
Please join us in celebrating the life and the light Taliah brings into the world.
Donations to my page support CHARGE SYNDROME CENTER Fund.
Donations to my page support critical cancer support programs at the Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Rady Children’s.
