Welcome to my fundraising page!
Dear family & friends,
With my upcoming Bat Mitzvah, it's very important to me to take this special opportunity to think of others and give back to the world (tikkun olam). There are so many worthwhile organizations in the world and so many ways to give back. When it was time to select my Mitzvah Project, it was quite clear to me that I want to make a real difference in the lives of children and their families who rely on Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego for care, so I created this Miracle/Mitzvah Maker fundraising page. Specifically, I am focusing my donations to the Diabetes/Endocrinology department, helping children who are diagnosed with Diabetes.
I have personally been affected by this disease in a number of important people around me in my life- I have a cousin, a family friend, and of course my Uncle Michael, who passed away 8 years ago- all who have/had Type 1 Diabetes. While each of them learned how to take care of themselves, take shots, eat the right foods, and control their insulin levels, it still effects their lives each day, and will continue to do so until they find a cure.
You may not know this, but Rady Children’s is a non-profit organization that relies on support from the community to provide world-class care for more than 281,000 kids and families each year.
I have donated $180 as a kick start to this Miracle/Mitzvah Makers donation page. Please consider supporting me by making a donation to my fundraising page in honor of my Bat Mitzvah and in honor of my family and friends who are personally affected by this disease. My goal is to raise $1800!
The process is fast, easy and secure, and you can be sure that it will benefit a good cause.
Thank you for your support!
With Love,
Vanessa Berkowitz
