For the past 5 years, Victoria has held an Arts & Crafts Drive to benefit the Toy Fund at Rady Children's Hospital. Rady Children's provides word-class care to nearly 250,000 families each year. This year, however, is like no other.
As a surge of migrants cross the U.S. - Mexico border, Rady Children’s Hospital is providing medical services and shelter to unaccompanied minors who have crossed the border. The hospital was called on by the federal government to provide a safe place to stay for hundreds of underage female migrants who would otherwise be housed in makeshift emergency shelters or border patrol facilities, which have been deemed unfit for children.
As important as it was to Victoria in years past to help stock the Arts & Craft supplies to help make children's hospital stays a little less "scary", Victoria said she "cannot even imagine how scary it would be if she was away from her family". Victoria is hoping to raise even more funds this year to help make sure all of the children who pass through Rady Children's Hopsital are comforted and provided for as much as possible.
