In honor of Catherine Swegles, on what would have been her 21st birthday, we are asking our friends and family to donate to the Charge Coordination Program. We want to make a real difference in the lives of children and their families who rely on Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego for care, so we have created a Miracle Maker fundraising page.
All of you who knew Catherine know that she had multiple medical issues as a result of having Charge syndrome. The multiple medical issues that Catherine carried meant she was treated by many different specialists at Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. While we have the utmost respect for all of these medical professionals, as parents, we were the ones who were tasked with coordinating the multidisciplinary care that Catherine needed. The Charge Coordination Program is intended to help take some of that tremendous burden off of Charge parents by providing a medical professional who will work with all of the others to ensure a Charge patient receives the proper treatment from those various departments.
From the moment we heard that Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego was considering this program, we were incredibly excited by its potential. Terribly, it will be put in place too late to help Catherine. However, this doesn't dim our enthusiasm for how much it will help other Charge families in San Diego and beyond, and make their lives a little better.
Please consider supporting us by making a donation to our fundraising page. The process is fast, easy and secure, and you can be sure that it will benefit a good cause.
Thank you, with love, Scott, Leda and Will.
